Slovaks: Slovaks are obviously the closest nation to Czechs. They are our eastern neighbor, we shared a country with them for almost a She Hulk shirt , and our languages and customs are very similar and for foreigners virtually indistinguishable. The Slovenian mentality, I would say, is very similar to the Czech one. Austrians: Czechs were ruled by the Austrians for centuries. Many Austrians: especially in Vienna and north eastern Austria have Czech surnames, and many Czechs have German surnames that are commonly found in Austria. This is because there was a lot of movement back and forth between nations. Austrian cuisine is very similar to Czech cuisine, and crossing the border into Austria from south Moravia you barely even notice a difference. Austrians I’ve encountered also tend to look more Central European than Western European like many Germans do.

I was about 12 years young then in the late 60s. CSR was unheard then. There was so many activities that we had a mesmerising and amazing time with prizes & good food with souvenirs. The soldiers gave us an authentic interesting tour of the military stations, barracks & general depots, including the armoury vehicles & what appeared to be “little museums.” All the kids in attendance were so happy & thrilled to be accorded such VIP treatment. I bragged about it to my neighbours & school friends. Till this day, I remember the event & look upon Xmas as a time of love, giving, fun & adventure. My impressions of Christianity (I am a Sikh) stood high, ever since.
