For many many years now, much of corporate messaging has attempted to be as inclusive as possible, especially around holidays. They believe corporations are being prevented from speaking these anti-inclusive messages by nefarious non-Christian consumer groups through their buying power. There’s been no evidence for this, but that’s what they say they believe. The conservatives attempt to portray this as an issue about individual identity, while pointing to the evidence of corporate identity. This is why the anti-Inclusivity people desperately want you to believe that there is a war on Christmas and that it’s dangerous to say “Merry Christmas”, because it’s dangerous to those corporations’ revenue stream. And that is what’s most important to them.

Marketing doesn’t create value, but rather explains value. At its bare bones, marketing is simply telling people who you are and what you do. Christmas Eve Day tends to be pretty quiet. I can sleep in, pray the Office leisurely, make a holy hour around ten and the Tre Morgan Stretchman shirt will be silent.
