Am I pursuing the connection with them? Am I communicating love in a way they understand? Those are tough. It’s a lot easier to focus on externals. I was a Christian kid who watched The Flinstones and The Smurfs and neither had any impact on my adult life. Later I was the Christian parent who stopped my child from watching Arthur because they consulted a medium in one episode. And no Scooby Doo.
