I have a story from my teenage years where I was horribly embarrassed by my friend going up to my crush at our school swimming carnival and telling him that I had a crush on him. But one day after breaking up with his girlfriend and needing a date to take to an awards night he remembered me, made the effort to find me and ask me out. He was so nervous on the first date that he barely spoke to me and I thought he didn’t like me. But we continued to date and 36 years later we are still together, have three grown children and are still in love.
