After making an embarrassing admission on the stage of a banquet hall to an audience of a few hundred people, one expects to be laughed at and teased a bit. That is after all the point of an embarrassing story. Fortunately, my skin is a bit thick in that respect. Nobody laughs at me as much as I do anyway, and I consider that ability to be a major boon to my own mental health. Most people also respect the bravery of the person putting themselves out there, and quickly settle down. However one guy continued interrupting me and making comments with, in my opinion at least, somewhat waning cleverness. Since this was a professional tech conference, and I knew who he was, I was patient and let his table mates reel him in. I also mentally thanked him for volunteering to be my straight man for the next part of the schtick that had very impromptu come to my mind.
