Griswold Family Christmas shirt
I chose hijab to strengthen myself to not be ashamed of who I am and to hold myself to my values and standards. Every society has something to say about how we should act and dress. For me the hijab liberated me from this Griswold Family Christmas shirt, to be viewed for my thoughts and ideas first. But this is my reason. While I also think modesty is beautiful, modesty is not just dress, it is actions too. It does not only apply to women, it applies to men too. Clothing and dress is so personal, I can’t imagine telling someone else how they should or shouldn’t dress or presuming I know why they choose to dress the way they do. In Islam “There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion.”
