The stigma around addiction often fuels this line of thinking. The idea that it’s the addicts fault they are addicted to something. This flawed thinking is what keeps addicts in the sickness. I recognize this is oversimplifying it, but it breaks my heart to know how many people are trapped in the self blame of being an addict and we as a society don’t do much to thwart that.
